Engine played up as we left the pontoon but soon fixed with a bit of seizing wire to fix the telegraph cable to the
throttle lever. Start at 07:20 after a revision to the finish line position was announced, more of this later. Kite up
straight away and headed out into the main channel to pick up the best of the tide. Good leg down the Solent with
the tide under us, a number of gybes and 4th boat through Hurst. Once past bridge buoy we headed for Anvil Point
with the wind behind us all to way. At Anvil Point the gradient wind disappeared and was replaced by a SW sea
breeze so kite down and white sailed to St Albans. Minimal over falls and the wind had reverted to an Easterly so
kite back up for the finish. Some odd calls on the radio from the boats ahead about the finish line position but we
headed for the GPS position quoted at the start. However, when we got there no mark to be seen so just took our
time on the spot. Looks like the quoted position was 1 degree out so we should have been a mile to the North or
perhaps it was a mile long finish line.
