Bit of pre-start drama for 2 of the Class 1 boats with a rather inexplicable T-Bone incident that will no doubt be costly for one insurance company or the other. Committee boat start in Weymouth bay and short tacked up the mainland shore following the faster J boats. Wind started to get fluky as we approached St Albans and lost out a bit when we tacked out into a hole. Once past Anvil Point we spotted the rest of the faster boats parked up and soon joined them in the parking lot. Quite a bit of sitting around before the sea breeze built and ran the asymmetric for a while then a bare headed change to the symmetrical kite for the leg to Bridge / Shingles Elbow. Got pretty tight as the wind picked up with a couple of semi broaches but managed to get to the corner and squared up. Wind died again and we struggled to get any boat speed as we drifted to Hurst. Bit of an awkward finish at Hurst buoy and a long smoky motor back to HYS.
