Mid line for a fairly conservative start and had the number 3 up as it had been pretty breezy on the way to Gurnard. Beat down the Solent to the forts and the breeze gradually died away which made making the forts a bit tricky. Changed up to the number 1 but in the process managed to loose the 2nd halyard up the mast (job for tomorrow). On the way to Bembridge kites started going up so followed suit and kept pace with a number of Impalas but couldn’t get past them. Once round Bembridge it was a short leg to West Princessa with another tricky rounding against the tide. Quite a long leg back across to Winner but didn’t bother with the kite as it was pretty tight. The breeze had now gone round to the West and was blowing strongly which made the beat back to the Forts pretty tough with up to 25 knots over the deck. Hoped for calmer conditions once back in the Solent but only sporadically with rain squalls and bright sunshine. Finished in the sunshine and strong breeze but poor result overall.
