Due to the forecast light winds and the prospect of the sea breeze coming in and cancelling out the gradient wind the course was shortened to Ledge Buoy and the start moved forward to 07:30.  Made a good start at the committee boat end of the line with the kite up just behind Madarin.  Headed over to the Island shore to get in the stronger tide with the rest of the fleet staying to the mainland side.  Looked a good option as we approached Hurst and took the North Channel in the lead with a pretty good angle to Ledge Buoy. Wacky Racer III were right with us at the buoy but we managed to pull a lead on the beat back to Hurst by minimising tacks.  Tide had turned by this stage so shot through Hurst but the wind was getting a bit fluky on the beat to the finish.  Still leading the fleet all the way till the last tack when Wacky Racer III gained on us and overtook just at the mark to beat us by 13 seconds.  Good result on corrected with second place behind Madarin and good series points.
