Combined start again for the race back and nailed it pretty well with a cruise up the line and then bearing away to
get the kite up. The direct course to St Albans would have been square running so decided to head offshore to get
better speed and then jibe back. This paid off as we were the second boat to get to St Alban's and first in our class.
Wind picked up a bit after rounding the point and we did hope it might drop off a little once we were past Anvil
point and into Poole Bay but it didn't. Struggled a bit with the tight reaching making it difficult to make the course
and broaching out so dropped the kite about half way across. White sailed the proper course for a bit then got the
kite up again when conditions eased a bit. Again lead our class to Hurst but as we approached we discovered that
our chat plotter had lost it's charts which would make negotiating Hurst narrows against the tide difficult. This was
indeed the case and after getting through we were too far out and got sucked back in again at which point the rest
of our fleet came past us. Once we had extricated ourselves and were chasing the rest the weather decided to play
another joker as the sea breeze started to cancel out the NW gradient which meant the wind was very light and
patchy. A rather difficult and tedious leg to the finish behind Wacky Racer and Spirit Of Kudu who we were well in
front off before Hurst.
