Virtual flags for the start and the use of the extended line due to the number of entries. Reasonable start then beat
down the Solent to the Forts / Nab Tower. Lost out to the other Lasers even though we had a good breeze all the way
and the number 3 up. Once round the Nab on the leg to Winner it started as sheets eased so changed up to the
number 1 then hoisted the kite. Gybe round Winner then back to the Forts. By this time the leaders were all some
way ahead and seemed to be going to the Mainland shore once through the Forts. We discussed this option but
decided to head for the Island shore as that gave us a good wind angle to make the Ryde pole and then a decent run
up the Solent. Wind moved around a bit so had to put in a few gybes but made it to the finish with no issues. Due to
our position at the Forts we assumed the leaders were long gone so very surprised when they turned up finishing
some way behind us. We kept the breeze all the way up the Solent and very little adverse tide whereas the boats
that went to the Mainland side had fluky wind and possibly adverse tide.
